Freedom Fighters! Brave, principaled freedom figthters! :)

Seriously though, it more than a "fit of piqu" or an instance of "toys being thrown from prams" for five cllrs with secure careers in the Labour Party to jump ship to the Conservatives.

Then again the Labour party's grip on the Sikh community has been getting more fragile for a few years now... but its been a trend thats gone uncommented upon largely because it's been overshadowed by the fluctuations in support for the Labour party amoungst the Muslim community (which is of course much larger than the Sikh community).

this shows that the temples and guduaras are dictating to communities how to vote in blocks, rather than allowing individuals to vote based upon principles or rational arguments. many ethic minorities joined labour, as labour were the only party that believed in equality and diveristy - especially amongst ethnic minorities starting at the bottom of britain's social pile. of course as ethnic groups become more firmly entrenched in the fabric of british society some will do well in business, and end up as tory's reflecting their new class/income/social demographic bracket - and some may not. but to dictate to a whole community how they should vote by moving on mass as a religous group from one party to another just shows how little these people actually believe in any political idealogy at all - and indicates more the purely sectarian nature of politics in their communities. to bin 20 years + of being in the labour party, because a. the candidate wasn't seikh, and b. wasn't wearing a turbun is just pathetic.

anyway, if cameron wants to take these prejudiced lunatics on board, more fool him.
